What commercial products would you recommend for measuring pulses down to 20 fs in single-shot? Any alternatives that could also work in the 400-530nm region?
Hi Daniel
Both FROG (Freququency resolved optical gating) and SPIDER (Spectral Phase Interferometry for Direct Electric-field Reconstruction) systems are capable of single-shot meaurements.
This FROG System from APE enables pulse width from 20fs to 6 ps and you can select the SHG crystal to suit the 400-530 nm wavelength range. Some considerations include:
- Highly variable for different parameter ranges (pulse duration, wavelength)
- Measure spectrally broadband pulses in single shot mode often not possible
Alternatively a Few Cycle Spider system is capable of precise characterization of very short pulses down to sub-5 fs in a single shot-measurement of pulse phase and intensity. Some considerations are:
- Relatively complex setup
- Insensitive to intensity noise
- Unambiguous in the sign of the chirp and time
- Different parameter ranges often require an optimized single-setup
Hope it helps!
