I’m looking for a linear variable edge filter “order sorting filter” for my hyperspectral imager. The camera sensor of the imager is 1/1.8" size and the spectrum on it is 400-1000nm along the longer (7.17mm) axis. Stepped order sorting filters should be also fine if there is something this size available.
Most order sorting filters are made for very large pixel size spectrometers. So they are 60mm or so long. Maybe there is something else out there for a smaller sensor size. Let me know if you know a company which offers similar products…
The hyperspectral imager I’m building is a pushbroom type, low cost solution, ca. 3kEUR material cost compared to the minimum 15kEUR “used” price of these. SPECIM will offer these devices for 40-90kEUR (!) new.
This is what it should about look like if it’s a linear variable longpass edge filter.
Otherwise a stepped filter should expect first order 400-1000nm and second order diffraction (to filter out) 350-550nm. I faintly remember some discussion with Delta Optical Thin Film that for process reasons this small filter are either not worth producing or there is a coating process limitation for the thin film wedge. Does anyone have experience with this?
