Basic optics assembly in LRF systems

Hi everyone,

I’m interested in Laser Range Finder (LRF) systems, particularly the optical design of the transmitter and receiver blocks.

I’ve performed some basic optical experiments such as reflection, refraction, beam divergence, and image inversion using different types of lenses. Now I’d like to understand the transmitter optics in more detail.

From what I understand, beam collimation is a key part of the transmitter section. Could you please guide me on:

  • What basic calculations are required for beam collimation?

  • How to select appropriate lenses for collimating a laser beam?

Any guidance or references would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
